I didn't celebrate St. Paddy's Day with green beer, but I did purchase a khaki green laptop briefcase from Canadian design company Matt and Nat. Does this count?

I was über pleased to find a functional + fashionable bag that will carry my laptop, files and should I desire...my personal belongings. There is a sleek and gorgeous colour option of white with contrasting black trim available on the Matt & Nat website and select European Apple stores, but my earthy green bag cost me only one-fourth the price! Booyah! I thank my Lucky Charms :)

The exterior is made of a quality vegan leather and inside you will find multiple compartments made of a faux-suede material stamped with "LINING MADE FROM 45 RECYCLED PLASTIC BOTTLES". How cool is that?

I'll consider this to be my small contribution to be a little greener everyday of the year and not just on St. Patrick's Day.

I love the retro look of these wedding cakes (even with the disproportionate cake toppers)! The vintage colours and minimalist designs sit perfectly atop milk glass pedestal stands; it makes me smile and look forward to Spring...if it ever gets here?

Speaking of Spring, we're excited about our first upcoming show for the season. On May 10th, we'll be back at Vancouver General Hospital for their annual Spring Artisan Market, where we will debut a new display for Izzy and Buds Jewelry Designs. I don't want to spoil the surprise just yet, so stay tuned for an update and maybe some photos :)

As we slowly awake from a long winter's nap (otherwise known as blogging hiatus) and transition into Spring, our bottle of quarante-quatre will be ready for consumption just in time to celebrate the new season.

Jesee was only 16 years-old when he was first introduced to this concoction from M. Garcia, a Spanish winemaker he met during his annual visits to the vendange in the south of France. A lovely beverage often enjoyed after dinner, the smooth orange flavour is complimented by the distinctive taste of coffee resting at the back of your throat just a few moments later. I personally cannot wait to enjoy mine with some rich dark chocolate :)

Quarante-Quatre (44 Day Orange-Coffee Liqueur)

1 large organic orange, well washed
44 coffee beans
44 sugar cubes
4 cups vodka

Poke the orange with a skewer or knitting needle and insert the coffee beans through the slits in the skin into the orange flesh.
Put the orange in a sterilized preserving jar (with an opening large enough to fit an orange through), add the sugar, pour over the vodka, seal, and shake.
Store in a cool, dark place, giving the jar a shake every day for 44 days.
Filter the liqueur through a coffee filter into a lovely vintage serving bottle.

Update 11Mar25: Very tasty and subtle flavouring from the orange and coffee beans. As I originally thought, it marries marvellously with dark chocolate!

I am so giddy to finally see the wedding photos from Corey and Melissa's big day, that I can forgive her for...

Waiting until the eleventh hour to place her custom order for wedding day jewelry for herself and the entire bridal party!
Her bridezilla 'tude just days before the wedding when she suddenly decides that she needs to have her Jr. bridesmaid's earrings shortened AND shows up late after FINALLY committing to a time and place!
Not sharing that their wedding was featured in the photographer's blog posted more than a month ago, after WEEKS of harassing this techno-challenged bride to post some photos on our Facebook Page!

Congratulations to the newlyweds - you both look absolutely gorgeous and thank you for giving Izzy and Buds Jewelry Designs the privilege of adorning all the lovely ladies in your party! xoxo

July has come and gone and now we have just one month left to enjoy our days (and evenings) of this blissful summer weather.

Not only have shows and festivals kept us busy throughout June and July, but orders for bridal jewelry are on the rise. As a small business challenged to find a market for those who appreciate unique, avant-garde designs in Vancouver, there is no denying our niche market has become jewelry for weddings both near and afar. What an honour it is to be a part of such a momentous event and thank you to all the brides for entrusting us to design the perfect adornments for your big day!

Speaking of big days...

Cinderella's appearance at the Prince's grand ball is coming up at a production by the Dragon Diva Operatic Theatre. Izzy and Buds Jewelry Designs will bejewel the princess-to-be with a spectacular Swarovski crystal ensemble, sure to make her the "belle of the ball"!

All the custom designed pieces will be available for sale after the show with partial proceeds going to The Cinderella Project.

Hot for Harrison

The Harrison Festival of the Arts begins tomorrow in Harrison Hot Springs, BC. The sizzling hot temperatures we have been experiencing of late, definitely warrants a day at the beach to cool off and enjoy the festivities.

On Saturday night, we will be celebrating the Spanish way with music and dance from Poema Flamenco. We first had the pleasure of watching Karen Pitkethly dance in 2006 and are looking very forward to being mesmerized by her again.

Look for Izzy and Buds Jewelry Designs under the PINK tent at the Art Market.
